• Title of the proposed project
• Name of applicant(s)
• Position in the School of Journalism & Media (eg: 1st year PhD. Student, etc.)
• Email address
• Narrative, up to 500 words, that describes the purpose of the study, its importance, and how it will be conducted. Applicants may attach up to 3 pages of appendices that include a bibliography or other relevant materials.
• Line-item budget of how funds will be spent. Legitimate scholarly purposes may include expenses for coders, incentives for participants and interviewees, travel costs to conduct the research, research software, and other research materials, among others. Disallowed costs include salaries, publication costs, expenses to attend conferences, durable equipment such as laptops or cameras, and books that are available from the UT library, among others.
• Requests can be between $100 and $1500. Please ask for only what you need. We try to fund as many requests as possible.
